I don't wannabe that guy but hotels aren't made for asylum seekers especially in countries where they can't sort out their homeless first, the government needs to create extra centers adapted for asylum seekers and there are ways of being smart about it just look at Canada and their Syrians.

The last government wanted to stoke tensions & transfer money to their wealthy donors, some of whom owned hotel properties standing empty due to covid, cost of living crisis & other factors. It was a way to kill two birds with one grift.. Sorry, stone.

Maybe two separate issues? I agree more should be done for the homeless but none of this seems to be able to be sorted out quickly. We can’t seem to build the appropriate accommodation for a lot of groups at the moment. Everyone living in affordable, clean and safe housing should be the norm.

Yes you are right the government can resolve this issue by treating the homeless and refugees with some humanity. We shouldn't need to vilify ppl fleeing war to resolve our own homelessness issues

Much more worried about what role the UK press is playing in all of this again.. You'd think that they would have learned a lesson featuring Farage so often before which led to where we are now yet somehow they've decided to repeat this cycle..

Is it because 'our own' homeless are supposed to be monitored/helped by local authorities, the same councils that are struggling to carry out anything more than their statutory obligations due to massive funding cuts. Social housing mostly sold off etc.

Certainly one reason. The Tories underfunding has a lot to answer for. It will take years of money, determination & goodwill to get our country back on track. Sometimes all our problems feel overwhelming & I expect certain people feel it is easier to blame immigrants than look at the big picture.
