Those places weren't schools. They were prison camps for kidnapped children. There's a reason people who were forced into these places are called survivors and not graduates.

I am well aware as a child of a survivor. All of my aunties and uncles were in these places. No, sadly that is what the 'disguise' was though for colonial power and Manifest Destiny to be enacted. Violent settler colonialism at its finest

This is my mother, Annie. She was brutalized in Delmas, SK. her and her brother. They spent their adult life, trying hard to silence the demons of these places.

My mom and all of her siblings are gone on now. Its so hard to think that in her time, she was never understood. Not even by her own children. I spent a lot of time with her before she passed. Her stories were the things of nightmares. 💔

Love to you too, sister. This is an era we cannot let people forget easily. It has impacted our nations in ways many refuse to speak of. I am not afraid of telling the truth. It isn't easy for any of us. Some have assimilated easily, I cannot. 💔
