Good riddance turd boy!
What happens when business models are applied at universities. Short term "turnarounds" financed by short term financial gains to the detriment of long term educational investment. But administration (CEO) takes a victory lap before long term consequences hit.
Must be nice to be comfortable. The course of action is to make these people uncomfortable. That is one problem of many. The melting pot interrupting the allusion of they have it all and don't want change. How do you handle generations of being told all is mine and that's it. Unity/Morality.
While I understand the need to 'right-size' the university (many colleges & universities are doing the same thing right now), he went about it in the wrong way. Phoning award-winning faculty to meet at an off-campus location - greeted by an officer with a sidearm - is about as callous as it gets.
And my alma mater will never recover from the damage. Thanks for rendering all of our degrees nearly worthless
The Axeman cometh and now he goeth.

You had one job... and you did it. Asshole.
What a shame. Hope they got their money’s worth.
Mid-year retirement for academic administrators usually means there's a storm cloud on their horizon.
Thinking the same thing. He sees the fall enrollment numbers before most. Fall classes begin in <2 weeks. Odd timing. If numbers were good he would be taking victory laps. Sadly, I'm predicting a rough fall for ESU despite their self-proclaimed "Year of Celebration" - which I thought was pre-mature.
Good news. That person made Emporia State University known nationwide in the area of higher education for the wrong reason. The bad reputation it has... 🫢
