Yeah they’re designed that way, Silent Hill 4 also makes an effort to reference the events of SH2 but it doesn’t confirm an outcome so it could’ve been any of them.

Oh man.. It sucked then and it sucks now… I think there are some ways to improve on (like not letting Maria take too much damage) to improve chances Of getting a good ending there should be guides that can help uou get a better ending
