When this happened I told the people I was with that this was going to make him some kind of hero. I felt then it was a put up job. He really picked up in the polls after it.

Yep. I felt the same way. Never believed this was legitimate. I mean, how does a guy get onto a roof with a rifle at a rally for a presidential candidate without incident? What was the secret service detail doing?
