The schtick though was mostly to sell a blog or course on how others could get rich too on blogging.

Yup! Everyone is selling a lifestyle! That's why it's an MLM. I also happen to be halfway through #LittleBossesEverywhere and I'm an old-school blogger (started my first one in 2002!) So it's very much on my mind as the industry changes. bookshop.org/a/97617/9780...
Omg, lol. I once sat through an Amway scam because I thought I had met a “friend” at a coffee shop and we both liked books and she told me about her “mentor.” Agh.
I know two women who launched blogs and successful best selling books and businesses from those blogs so I too at one point believed I could be a millionaire from some niche market. But that was about a decade ago and those days are long ago. I’m gonna check out that book!
It seems to be making the argument that MLM's are actually a propaganda tool to sell "the American Dream" and the idea that poverty is a moral failure because you didn't work hard enough. I suspect it will eventually link to Trump's popularity.
Seems a logical summary. It’s amazing how these things seem so obvious but I’ve totally fallen for them myself.
