Yes but I don't want to live under authoritarianism of either the far-right or far-left varities.
Yes but I don't want to live under authoritarianism of either the far-right or far-left varities.
There is no such thing as far left authoritarian. Especially here. The farthest left political group (progressives) are exactly the same new deal values that built the party &the middle class. Eisenhower republicans were far left compared to todays “centrists” who’d be considered far right years ago
Thank you for making it clear to everyone reading that anything and everything you say can be summarily ignored going forward.
Thank you for making it clear you can’t dispute what I said so you hurl petty insults just like a trump supporter. Bitch please.
We could not be in more agreement there. But, since we're already living under authoritarianism, and the previous order resulted in it being imposed on us, the question today isn't how do we avoid it but what can break its hold. I think there's a need for a lot of intellectual openness there.
Are you serious? “Far left” in this country is not any farther left than Eisenhower republicans or any president from 1932-1980
For fuck's sake learn even a tiny bit of history.
Todays democrats are even farther right than fucking REAGAN on immigration and Israel policy. Maybe you should stop insulting people and read a fucking history book
For fucks sake I’m correct. Eisenhower taxed the rich at 93%, gave us the biggest expansion of welfare EVER, build the highway system in one presidency You people always act all snotty & superior but have no fucking idea what you are talking about
I agree, and I don't define things like universal healthcare as "far left", but I'm seeing some more agitation for violence from that extreme of late and it concerns me (not as much as the far right does since they are already running the country, obviously).
How can we sell freedom to a population who have shown themselves willing to vote for dictatorship? Not an easy q.
It's not, but I think it will get easier as it becomes more apparent how disastrous authoritarian populism is as a governing philosophy.
There is zero danger of the latter.
At present, in the U.S.? There is not much. Globally and historically? It's happened quite a lot, and is still happening. I don't want to be Hungary OR Venezuela, thanks.
All of them get crushed by one country specifically, it's not happening in America. And pretending it's a spectre as realistically threatening to you as fascism and unregulated capitalism is ridiculous. America doesn't have universal healthcare but it does still have slavery.
