He owned WRDW, Augusta; WJBE Knoxville; and a couple of others. James Brown was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2022 as a "Legend of Radio" for his station ownership. A present-day station in Knoxville honors him with the WJBE calls in 1040 AM/99.7 FM
