Thanks for sharing this Chris. I live close by & was horrified when I heard what had happened. The crime took place not long after I’d been fortunate to see a short eared owl not far from there & it was soul destroying to hear that two had been deliberately killed.

I bet he only got a paltry fine (which his employer covered). Until there are custodial sentences for the keepers doing the killing AND the landowners in whose name they do, it this sort of thing will continue to happen.

£1000 and costs, I believe, although he was sacked. You have to wonder why any gamekeeper would willingly decide to put themselves in such legal and work jeopardy for no reward, given that his employer apparently disapproves of such things.
