My dad was obsessed about avoiding putting plugs on electrical devices. He'd just jam the wires into the sockets using matchsticks. I cannot believe we all survived into sdulthood.

My dad wasn’t so bad with plugs but he did like “fixing” blown fuses by wrapping tin foil around the fuse & carrying on as normal, with no regard for why they blew
Yep, what's the point in replacing a blown fuse with something that's just going to blow again. Make your own 50 amp fuses. Last a lifetime, that.
What!
1970s.
70s Dads had this funny thing about not doing things the proper way. Like they’d got one over on “the man” by bodging things Stupid little things like ramming matches into a hole instead of JUST BUYING SOME FUCKING RAWLPLUGS!!
I remember coming home from school to find a crack in my bedroom wall big enough for me to put my hand into. My dad had demolished an attached barn that it turned out was giving support to the gable wall of the 350 year-old farmhouse. 😬
Omg
