Civilians 3 out of 4 weekends per month and 11 out of 12 months (or whatever their individual duty schedule happens to be). Try to be sympathetic to them. Say hello. They signed up to serve and maybe get college money. They are being abused by their commanders (Governors or #trumpepstein).

One: they probably are well aware they aren’t welcome. They don’t get to hide behind masks and unmarked cars and flee. They left their jobs & family to be pawns for 30 days. That’s gotta suck. Two: if you feel up to it and it seems the right time you can say something like….
“Thank you for serving. I’m scared seeing the military on the streets of my hometown. I hope y’all can go home soon.” They have no more control really than you or I do at this point. If they went awol they face jail & dishonorable discharge. Military sayings: hurry up and wait. Enjoy the suck.
