That would depend on whether your backers support fossil fuels. Western democracy is a financial market like anything else and the policies are paid for by party backers.

Agreed. I suspect that at least some of the lobbying by fossil fuel investors is done on the basis of making a return before fossil fuels are outlawed altogether.
