... quite lost on me ... Didn't they go through a writers' strike, and just kept making episodes without properly written scripts?

That was season 2. All of the rest were written normally. For season two, there were shorter episodes, and they rehashed dialogue from the previous season. They also found scripts from other Star Trek-related shows. It lasted 154 days only lol
Seemed telling to me that they went ahead without proper stories
But it was only for one season out of all of the seasons which is why I said I still liked it and they still had great dialogue, which is why people still continue to watch even after they rehashed old dialogue because it was that good. They would have lost a lot of viewers after season 2 if it had
Been completely shyte lol
But I've seen episodes - I don't know which season - where they set up an interesting premise, and then develop it, but in the last half of the episode, it's all stupid and convenient coincidences, lucky things happen, and so on
So, in other words, kind of like real life? I mean that is how things work out for me ... a series of coincidences and happenstance lol Nothing ever works out the way I planned it and my luck runs both ways, but it's usually down to luck lol
If real life were like that I'd give up!
Nah ... not for me. Where's the fun and the adventure?! If I knew the way everything was going to turn out and there was no element of surprise in life, then I'd be a rich person having won the lottery every time I played and, wait ... sure, that would be more fun lmao
I'm not seeing the point you're making ... you want to think you're like Jean-Luc Picard, but you're really like Jonathan Frakes
I am nothing like Jean-Luc Picard, but I am quite akin to Patrick Stewart. I am definitely nothing like William Riker, but I don't know enough about Jonathan Frakes to know if I'm like him or not. Most just call me Calamity Jane LOL
But I'm glad you like those kinds of adventures 💙
Take that, Star Trek!
The Borg Queen wouldn't have put up with that!
She was just cool like that. Very demanding though. I prefer my mothers to allow a certain bit of freedom lol
I also prefer mothers who don't drill holes in your eye and load you up with nanobots!
