I have told this story before but it’s one thing that keeps me talking about #COVID and getting involved in clean air campaigning. I can and will never get out of my head how my relative who fought for this country was treated with such a lack of respect by not only the last government but this one🧵
Did not fight for this country. Fought for and at the whim of the oligarchs who rule this country.
also. The truth matters, standards matter, caring about our elderly matters. Social responsibility matters or what have we become?
Two Summers ago I met an elderly man who was working as a volunteer at an historic site and we struck up a conversation about the history of the place and as we were chatting I noticed on the counter he had handgel and was wearing gloves.
He stared at me in my 3M aura and nervously said ‘do you have an infection’. I quickly reassured him that I was masking because I was immunosuppressed and he looked very relieved.
I explained that I was masking because the risk was predominantly an airborne one and told him what type of mask I had on. I think about this often, how many elderly I have chatted to using handgel and it makes me terribly upset. I think of how much they have been let down by the complete
failure to inform on airborne transmission and risk and it really breaks my heart.
So to see this in Private Eye has given me the first hope of change in five very long years.
I do hope that things change. We had a relative undergo a major surgery in July.He contracted a pneumonia in hospital and died. I don’t know if it was a bacterial, viral or fungal pneumonia but I do know that only my husband and I wore FFP2 masks so that we didn’t pass anything on to our loved one 💔

Thank you. I was amazed to see that the hospital actually had surgical masks available in the ICU waiting room but sadly no one wore them or even used the hand gel available. No infection control was visible in practice at all. All very depressing that we have gone backwards! Kudos to Private Eye
