Some examples: • Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket): Sunday frequency reduced from every 60 minutes to every 80 minutes.
• Route 87 (Fairmount/Walnut Hill): Weekend frequency reduced from every 40 minutes to every 80 minutes.
• Route 68 (CCRI Newport/Memorial Blvd./First Beach): Weekday frequency reduced from every 45 minutes to every 85-90 minutes. Weekend service eliminated.
• Route 6 (Prairie/Roger Williams Park Zoo): Sunday/Holiday service eliminated. • Route 16 (Bald Hill/NEIT/Quonset): Sunday/Holiday service eliminated. • Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave): Sunday/Holiday service eliminated. • Route 75 (Dexter/Lincoln Mall): Weekend service eliminated.
• Route 69 (Narragansett/Galilee): Weekday service reduced from every 60 minutes to every 90 minutes. Weekday span reduced to run from 7:35am to 10:20pm instead of 6:15am to 12:30am. Weekend service eliminated.
• Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side): Sunday frequency reduced from every 30 minutes to every 45 minutes.
• Route 14 (West Bay): Weekday service between Rte. 1A and Rte. 138 in North Kingstown and Salt Pond Plaza in Narragansett will be eliminated.
• Route 22 (Pontiac Ave): Weekday frequency reduced from every 35 minutes to every 55 minutes.
Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset): Saturday span reduced. Weekend frequency reduced from every 50 mins to every 74 mins. Route 18 (Union Ave): Weekday frequency reduced from every 30 mins during peak hours to every hour all day. Sat. service eliminated. Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster): same as Route 17
I wonder if this was avoidable or if Rhode Island, a Democratic trifecta state, is just broken and dense.
This was definitely avoidable! The Governor left RIPTA with a $32.6 M shortfall in his proposed state budget back in January!! This is ultimately his fault.
Dan McKee seems to not want to be governor if he's doing things that that have no tangible gain for the state.
