Or vise-versa. That's how it is in my state. "It is the duty of the father and the mother of any poor person who is unable to provide self-maintenance by work to maintain that person to the extent of the parent's ability." That ability also includes financial. There goes the retirement plan!

1000x this! Until I had to arrange care for my parents, I had no idea about these laws. This will absolutely bankrupt Americans, compromise any economic growth, and leave future retiring generations with absolutely nothing. People will die. If not now, then later.
