While he’s at it, how about a massive increase in taxes targeting the wealthy?
While he’s at it, how about a massive increase in taxes targeting the wealthy?
He could have stopped the cut.
Performative BS
The time to prevent it was before you voted for the bill, you absolute corncob.
Hawley is a cornhole.
Never forget www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_yZ...
Good, let’s repeal them
The scam: Pass "One Big Beautiful Bill" by simple majority in the Senate since it is a "reconciliation bill", which meant it had to be somewhat "budget neutral". The only way to balance the tax cuts was with Medicaid cuts. Which is going to kill them in the midterm elections.
Solution? Restore some of the Medicaid cuts with a stand-alone bill. This doesn't have to be "reconciliation", since of course the Democrats will jump on board. Now in the midterms they can point to their vote to restore Medicaid. Its all a scam on the American people. Rinse and repeat.
Idiots
Hawley could have voted "No" when it mattered. This is some performative nonsense from a coward.
Carve outs are how they will keep the base at bay
Kowtowing lickspittle craven coward, jumping on a bandwagon like the turtle giving the scorpion a ride across the river. He knew what the Convicted Felon in the White House was. Everyone who supported him, who sought his endorsement, who voted for him, knew.
In the meantime, hospitals who largely depend on Medicaid are already shutting down or cutting back severely in anticipation of the cuts. Too late, Hawley. You had your chance. Patients are already desperately calling your office, right? As the deaths mount, what will you do? Run? Pray?
a) Doing this to pretend he was always against the cuts, and will now blame any cuts on Dems who don’t vote for his bs bill; and b) were his bill to pass, none of the BBB would be fiscally possible. #GOPKilledUSA
Republicans needed the Medicaid cuts in the bill to be able to pass it without filibuster in the Senate. Now, they can add the cost back in with help from Democrats who never wanted the cuts. Nice workaround.
That reminds me of the last time he talked about getting rid of the Medicaid cuts, and then voted for them.
Hawley was against it before he was for it before he was against it. Somewhere, John Kerry is saying “Dayum!”
How about just repealing the whole thing okay great thanks buddy keep up the good work.
Yeah, or we could stop voting for Republicans and fix the problem once and for all.
So are we gonna say this POS saved Medicaid and put his name on the bill?
And the people of Missouri could have voted Hawley out of office, but for some stupid reason they re-elected him.
yeah man, its almost like the National democratic party absolutely abandoned fundraising at all here and just expects us to run candidates solely on vibes and goodwill.
Local arsonist returns to scene of fire, offers to help put out the flames
People will likely die BECAUSE of his vote for trumps bill. Now he wants DEMOCRATS to save his constituents?
Another cynical move by a spineless Republican. He should have stood up for his constituents and not voted for the cuts in the first place.
they are scared scared for 2026
Running away from his vote.
What a slimeball. He knew about the cuts and he voted for the bill.
"NOW IS THE TIME TO PAY FOR THE FOOD!" *pretends to reach for wallet*
Then was the time.
He must be up for recapturing his seat in 2026.
He’s doing it only to be able to claim that he tried when it fails (it will clearly fail and he knows it). If he is so against Medicaid cuts he should have voted against the original bill.
pathetic
What about the insane 80 hour work requirements to stay on medicaid? Is that included?
What a loser. Truly just a worm 🐛 it’s baffling he’s not voted out but maga loves torture.
seriously......what a clown. vote for cuts, then introduce a bill to try and stop the cuts? Honestly, brilliant politics when your peeps only get their news from Fox. Still makes him a very small man.
I smell desperation.
I doubt it will go anywhere but at least he can say “he tried” for the sake of future campaigning.
MO is the Show Me state. Good luck, Josh-y.
I can already see it... republicans and democrats will introduce bills to protect their states, but only republican bills will get voted on and passed. Part of the plan, methinks
Insanity
What in the actual what?
This is lip service. I doubt it passes but instead provides cover for him when the cuts actually happen.
It’s going to play into the hands of the Democrats. When someone on the opposing side introduces a bill that undoes the cuts that’s a sign of terrible policy and politics.
HAHAJAHAHA
They’re all such assholes.
say one thing and vote another - never let them know what you are really for....MO voters, wake up?
Uhhh the time was when they voted on it.
He's trying to repeal something he just voted for.
He voted for it before he was against it. Sound familiar?
If it‘s not part of budget reconciliation, can it even get through with only 50 votes? And if it takes 60, who’s he even kidding?
Why didn't you point out that this bill requires more votes to pass than the bill Hawley voted for, which included the Medicaid cuts? That means this is very unlikely to pass and is just a stunt by Hawley to pretend he actually wants to repeal the cuts. STOP DOING FREE PR FOR FASCISTS!
What an ass hat.
The Medicaid Expansion Initiative (Amendment 2) was added to Missouri's constitution by the voters in 2021. This constitutional mandate states that the state legislature is legally obligated to find the necessary funding to continue covering expanded Medicaid eligibility if federal
funding decreases. Missouri could face significant budget problems because of the One Big Beautiful Bill, requiring the state to find new revenue sources or cut programs. The obvious revenue generator would be to tax the rich, something Hawley and the Missouri legislature are vehemently against.
THIS is the ONLY reason Hawley originally said he was against the OBBB – then voted for it to please Trump – and is now trying to save his ass & senate seat and keep his billionaire friends in Missouri from being taxed!!
It has NEVER been because of the harm these Medicaid cuts will bring to Missourians. It’s about greed and grift. Follow the money, folks!
Leave it to Hawley to dine and dash.
I wonder if folks in MO are trying to primary now.
He voted for the bill.
Buy he didn’t read it. Sarcasm yes.
Wow, talk about having it all ways.
Kinda like how he wants to get elected in Missouri but live in Virginia. 🤔
Its kinda like the time he helped incite a riot that he had to run from later.
Hawley is such a piece of shit.
FFS 🤦♀️
If he’s not going to hold up floor votes to get this thing done, then it’s just messaging
This is nothing more than a political tactic to gain the some of the upper hands so Dems can’t blast the GOP with negative ads and talking points. Dems will likely resist and the GOP will try to blame Dems for taking away healthcare for “grandma” When will these people get serious?
He voted for the bill. His introduction to repeal some of the cuts is nothing but performative BS.
Isn’t the standard message from the republicans that there aren’t any Medicaid cuts? This kind of gives the game away!
bsky.app/profile/axid...
This is a way to put Democrats name on the “spending increases” that contribute to blowing out the deficit in this budget.
Maybe the time to do that was during voting, when he could have vetoed it.
Josh Hawley is up for re-election. He's going to say anything he has to to make his constituents think he really cares. He's a J6r and belongs in jail.
Are they going to spend the next years, each one of them, introducing the same bill just to pretend that they tried ?
He’s trying to keep his senate seat.
The gentleman from Virginia ought to run for one there.
Yea, he’s gonna lose it. He’s a Fraud & a Liar -everyone knows it. 😏
I wish he would lose it. But the base here in MO is very, very gullible. They will eat this shit up.
And this will pass with Democratic support and Hawley can claim wins during his next campaign..
I thought there weren't any Medicaid cuts....
The time to stop these cuts was when you voted for it the first time, you dipshit. How is that raised fist on 1/6 working out for you?
What’s the “Rural Health Transformation Fund”??? This is where he wants the money to go. Was this the R’s alternative rural hospital funding plan(that they’ll doubtfully let Dems use), that they created?
all this tells me is they expect to hold the government until 2036 really
They probably will, given that the opposition is entirely focused on voting the Dems out of office, not Republicans.
Josh realized that ppl know where he lives.
Another fuckin fraud
What a dick.
Classic Hawley. If anything, I see this is great backup support for the mid terms when they try to say, look, no one has lost Medicad / Medicare.
Could have amended the bill.
Nah, force him to have other GOP senators sign on before taking this seriously. It feels like a stunt for him to look bipartisan without doing the work.
Josh Hawley turning in his term paper a semester late and insisting he get partial credit for trying
I do not get it. Is he getting too much flak back home over voting for it? Or is this just a grandstand so that he can say he tried?
Oh, NOW is the time. Thanks, Josh.
So adding a trillion or so back to our debt ? Or is he going after the billionaires?
Really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? bsky.app/profile/ring...
It's all theater with Hawley - this will go no where and he knows it. But when he runs for re-election he'll use it as a talking point. He's a bag of dicks with no balls.
Came here to say exactly this. Except for the dicks part. But thanks for adding it, completely accurate!
We could have decent senators like Lucas Kunce and Trudy Valentine but the jackasses in this state who always vote Republican ruined it. And now their hospitals are going to close, some of them will lose their farms, and many will go hungry. I'm not even mad - I'm just sad.
It is sad! We have clinics in rural red areas here in MI that will be closing as well, voters just shooting themselves in the foot.
"A bag of dicks with no balls" is now my favorite adage. Perhaps Hawley could use it as a campaign slogan. 😊
No Senator, now is not the time. That was before you voted for the bill. Doing it now just means that you're trying to save face with the constituents that you should have been fighting for weeks ago.
He knows this isn't gonna pass. It's completely performative. Just something he can reference when he's in MI to give him plausible deniability.
But I was reliably informed by Republicans that the bill didn't actually cut medicaid!
They're Schrodinger's Cuts. Cuts which they are now feigning effort to prevent. Not cuts when they end up going into effect.
So basically he realized that he's planning on running for reelection next year and the bill he helped pass would negatively impact his base. 🙄
Missed opportunity to name it the Murkowski, fix it later, bill.
Make it make sense 🤯
So the GOP is admitting they’re cutting Medicaid now ?
lol
Sure.
That polling is hitting hard
Hawley:
While the reps from Oklahoma could give 2shits
Classic Trump-like tactic: 1. Create the problem (but blame Biden or Obama). 2. Fix the problem. 3. Praise yourself publicly & incessantly for fixing the problem. 4. Rinse & repeat.
Yeah sure asshat
(1 of 6) Prior to voting for "The Big B̶e̶a̶u̶t̶i̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶ 𝙐𝙜𝙡𝙮 Bill", #Hawley wrote a powerful guest opinion column in the @nytimes.com explaining why Medicaid should 𝗻𝗼𝘁 be cut. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/o... and on various interviews including a one on CNN ( @cnn.com) with Manu Raju on May 14, 2025 / 2
2/ "Inside Politics" that it is wrong to cut #Medicaid cuts for working families, claiming it was his "line in the sand" but then voted for "The Big B̶e̶a̶u̶t̶i̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶𝙐𝙜𝙡𝙮 Bill" anyway. ( #Missouri is a solid "red" state in recent years, no longer a swing state and #Democrats / 3 youtu.be/N1cmrq1N1Dc?...
3) have lost significant support in the few #Democratic strongholds in the state and in the biggest metropolitan areas: #KansasCity, #StLouis, #Springfield and #Columbia @missouriindependent.com: missouriindependent.com/2024/11/14/f...) #Hawley, who is one of President #Trump's most loyal / 4
4 / supporters doesn't run for reelection until 2030 (contrary to some comments here) so it's unlikely he would loose to a #Democrat even without introducing this bill. The bill only matters if he manages to secure enough votes to pass it in the Senate and get a companion bill through the House / 5
5 / and #Trump either signs it or there are enough votes to override a veto. Otherwise, it's just performative. One could argue that #Hawley should have not voted for the Trump's #BBB in the first place because of the drastic #Medicaid cuts (and I certainly would have respected that more), but / 6
6/ there's also the reality of #Trump's unhealthy hold on the #Republican Party and the reality of being a Republican politician in a majority #Republican / #MAGA state. I'm sure that played into his calculus even though he's had trouble justifying his vote to #Missouri voters. rb.gy/jik303 #news
It will go nowhere, but Hawley will now use it to better the optics of his position on the issue...
I don’t think House or Senate leadership would allow it to be voted on That said. Every single democrat should vote for this bill and support it. Reducing the Medicaid cuts will save lives and the dems should vote to protect Medicaid and strengthen it.
That you, Josh?
This was likely part of the deal to get certain GOP on board? The ability to amend after?
Why is he pandering? Missouri election results are ignored now.
Oh, NOW is the time, you say?
Hawley is always a day late, dollar short except when he fears for his life - then he is EXPEDITIOUS in running from the threat. His token bill may be necessary, but it reeks of "minimal effort made to present a good face to constituents",
THIS IS NOT HOW YOU GOVERN. Folks really need to understand the deep dark differences between the two parties.
I am sure he got Trump’s blessing to introduce this bill. A bill they both know will go nowhere.
A good old fashioned campaign tactic. Hawley knows this will go nowhere and yet he's giving himself and other spineless R's something to hide behind in the next election.
I don’t Josh. Seems like the time to stop that would have been when you voted for this shit. Of course, we’ve all seen what kind of a coward you are. #runaway
*know. I don’t know, Josh.
Lololololololololol. Ok.
Idiot.
“Now” is not the time. Two weeks ago was the time.
An even better way would be not to vote for it in the first place genius.
What a complete crock of shit. You don’t get to murder people and then go “oops”.
Holding up his fist, then running like hell for the exit.
Or he could’ve just not supported the bill. One of the biggest frauds in America.
Wow, I’m truly at a loss. A politician who VOTED for the BBB, introducing a bill undoing the cuts he approved of. Seems like very stupid policy and politics.
Josh Hawley is a very stupid and cowardly politician.
too little too late so too bad
I imagine him writing (who are we kidding, supervising his staff) this bill while wearing his tight black t-shirt, saying to himself, "This is what a real man does."
Or you could have voted no!!!
I hate I am from Missouri. Hawley has forever ruined this state.
Just fleet-footed Joshie desperately covering his ass so he can dare set foot in rural Missouri where his vicious meth-addled voters are going to be enraged at having their health care ended! He’s not going to be any safer in the blue metro areas, either. Lotsa guns in Missouri!
He needs to suffer the consequences of his actions at the next election!
Seems like it would have been easier to not vote for the cuts in the first place, rather than voting for them and then having to vote to undo them.
