He’s a nice fellow but he & I have always got on terribly well for some reason

It's uncanny and humbling when a cat chooses you this way, as we know, as cat people, how rare it is, even when they live in your household and you do F'ing everything for them.

A dog's love feels natural, in a very literal sense. An extension of their nature. A cat's love feels deliberate. Human, almost. Even if you loved them first, they made the decision to love you in return.
