My favorite instance of this was when a majority of a plesiosaur skeleton was found opalized in Australia. All the photos I can search of it are relatively dull, but I bet it's even better in-person.

ooh i didn't know this could happen with opals! it so happens that remineralization is a really active thread in the world building...
