Because it makes you sound like a child whose understanding of politics is based on whether people are "mean" or "nice"
Because it makes you sound like a child whose understanding of politics is based on whether people are "mean" or "nice"
does "orange" have some "mean" or "nice" connotation i'm unaware of?
I think its partly the "don't insult him for things your friends might relate to cause he will never see your comments but your friends will". A joke about his weight never reaches him but hurts others, but nobody is going to hurt by calling him orange.
I don't actually have any fake spray-tanned orange friends
And people want to refer to him in a way that leaves no doubt they think he's shitty is my other guess. He wants people to be using his name, he puts it on all his gaudy buildings and failed business ventures. I think people want to not use it out of spite.
Sure, and I think that's valid, I just don't think that's the dynamic the original post was alluding to
His Bronx Colors makeup is literally called "Orange" and it's a comment on his vanity and vacuity.
Agreed when it's about weight or hair loss or something people have little control over. Makeup, however, is fair game! And his is sooooooooo bad 😭😭
No it doesn't?
yeah. does. sorry. surely not to some folks! but yeah.
Maybe we swim in different circles; I don't surround myself with people who have shallow political views, but I do have a lot of friends who enjoy mockery
Everyone enjoys mockery. The problem is people bring up him being orange as if that's a legit criticism, and not just mud slinging. "Heh he's orange" is funny, but too many people use it as some sort of gotcha, as if he doesn't know he's orange.
I'll take your word for it; I don't recall seeing that myself
It is legit criticism. On top of his buffoonery and chicanery, he wears a toasted apricot colored foundation while the rest of his body is a ghastly white with a tornado of a combover and THAT'S who's out in the world representing us. It's embarrassing.
He's embarrassing because he is basically telling the world he is open to the highest bidders and best ass kissers, not because he can't do his makeup.
He's embarrassing for both reasons. Someone who presents himself as he does is mentally unwell and it's perfectly fine to point that out.
That. He's 100% terrible.
I don't think I've ever met someone who thinks Trump is bad because he is orange.
I think the orange makeup demonstrates that something has gone very wrong in his brain.
It's manifested delusion.
His appearance and image are embarrassing. He's racist and arrogant and a whole host of other negative adjectives and actions is why he's "bad".
Add it to the list then. An 80 year old man with a face full of bronzer is also embarrassing TO ME. If YOU like it, you like it.
who doesn't?
….you mean, like Trump?
Yeah. Like, when I call Hitler a “monster,” I’m only revealing my ignorance of post-Weimar German expansionism and social policy.
But "monster" implies an ethical and moral judgement. "Orange" just means he looks silly. The former is coming from a fundamentally more serious place than the latter.
Okay. “Paper hanging son of a bitch.” Come one folks. Don’t we have bigger concerns than what pejoratives we apply to that shit gibbon?
Did people picket your house and demand you change your verbiage? The post said "calling him orange is cringe." That's it! That is the level of discourse we're on right now. You couldn't fashion a tamer criticism if you tried.
Yeah, you've lost me. I think I made myself pretty clear, on a topic that is both straightforward and unimportant, so I'm going to leave it at that and let you figure this out on your time
I figure out a lot in my own time…like how my of third-party embarrassment is usually MY problem.
yes but it would be kind of nice to not make ourselves look silly
This is why democrats lose, because they keep taking this high road
I agree that the dems lose because of high road stuff! This isn't that. This is sounding like an adult whose opposition to Trump is based on more than "he's a rude ugly weirdo"
It's fair game when people who attack drag performers wear a ton of makeup every single day themselves.
Calibrating your sense of right and wrong based on who you're attacking leads to some dark places. Have some moral integrity.
There are plenty of contexts where calling out that hypocrisy is justified and relevant. Defaulting to "Trump is orange lol!!" as a canned epithet to voice generic opposition makes it sound like you're talking about a mean person on Sesame Street instead of a violent racist tyrant
Get over yourself - he’s fucking orange and you want to take a high road to hell. A bully deserves it!
I've already responded to you and explained that you have a completely turned around understanding of my point. This has nothing to do with who deserves what. I'm saying using childish insults makes you sound like a stupid embarrassing coward who can't confront reality. (i.e. a democrat)
if you were fighting Hitler would you be this focused on his mustache or would the other things feel more important
I'm a functioning adult, and quite capable of doing both without any loss of productivity.
and that seems like a good idea to you?
well, he may be a white supremacist, a rapist, a moron, and a dictator, but i would like to focus on there being a dang cheeto in the white house
didn't you hear though, there's a dang CHEETO in tha WHITE HOUSE
Yes, if the aunties on facebook are to be believed
Actually, fascists cannot stand being mocked.. undermines their need to be feared and taken seriously. It’s quite effective in this scenario.. and necessary
How has it been effective?
tactical frivolity .. lots of good info out there
