He thinks he's a "leader" like the Venetian doges of old. Instead of wearing a corno ducale hat, he wears a maga cap.

Mussolini called himself "il duce", which is just the modern Italian equivalent of the word
Finally someone has made the connection! Husband and I have mentioned this as well.
On a side note, thirty years ago I read "A Short History of Byzantium" by John Julius Norwich. That began my life long fascination with all things Byzantine, and by extension, Venice. 1000 years of Game of Thrones. What an incredible civilization.
It's the first thing I thought of when I heard the acronym. I was the nerdy kid. 😂
Same!
They need to cross the Bridge of Sighs into the prison.
😖😂 ... ⏱️🧨
Marino Falieros' ghost has entered the chat.
Ooooo.... Thanks for giving me more history.
I highly recommend the John Julius Norwichs' books on the history of Venice and History of Byzantium. He writes for the average history buff and the scholar alike. Solid history plus all the little anecdotes and racy scandals of the times. Think Gibbon with a touch of National Enquirer. 😉
My eyeballs!
Exactly.... Proof once again he is delusional
I thought that was a bizarre coincidence myself. Those doges had power, yet at least they had to be chosen by a large committee, and nepotism by the doge was forbidden. Think I may experiment with ‘shopping one of those pointy hats onto musky’s pointy head. 🙃
Well of course he does. I've come to realize the man is retarded. Used to think him quite brilliant, but then I started realizing that basically all he ever does for the most part is say "Why can't we do that?" and strip everything down until it stops working and then have his engineers add 'em back
