I'm curious how many people with strong thoughts on Bond have read any of the books. Because OH MY GOD are they racist, misogynist, and homophobic even for the era.

Bond actually has real emotions in the novels, though -- unlike anyone but Craig in the films.
I remember a book where the villain was based in Scotland and Bond had to go out of his way to assure the crowd at some local Highland games thing that even though he's not full blooded Scottish, his mom's side wasn't *that* unacceptable.
