Haven't seen anyone mention Michael Schur. A lot of good comedy in Parks & Rec, but the liberal technocratic politics at its heart is hard to stomach sometimes. Knope & Swanson are the 2 poles of acceptable politics in the show. Public is often depicted as ignorant rubes. Yet it's good comedy.

Tend to loathe the smile and pass go figures in LTP politics..but also the public often are..well rubic. What’s one to do but take a Buffalo stance.

I enjoyed P&R but the running joke of general public as fearful idiots with no object permanence was definitely elitist. And the way the delegation from Venezuela was depicted feels racist.

That Venezuela episode is pretty messed up. I heard an interview with Fred Armisen form a few years ago and he has family that left Venezuela because Chavez got elected. Gives an extra layer of insult to that ep.

The Good Place does better with this, but substitutes collective moral failing for materialist analysis. Still a great show though.
