Radio 1 sounded like Blue Jam without the voices. I remember a weird ambient remix of Tiny Children by The Teardrop Explodes on heavy rotation.
Ha ha that’s a really good way of putting it!
That's one of my main memories too, Radio 1 not playing any pop songs for the rest of the day. Then when they did it was "Everybody Hurts" at least twice an hour
And then on the night after the funeral two men smashed through my front door and threatened to kneecap me and my temporary housemates, but I guess most people don't have that memory
Bloody hell
I think we went to the pub , the next few weeks were a pain as I had to get the bus past Kensington Palace every other day and the big jams. Think the day of the funeral I just went to the park and read my book, didn't see the funeral live
I started a new secondary school in the September and in one of the very first assemblies a teacher played Candle in the Wind on acoustic guitar
Oh God
Yes. He sang. We were all supposed to be very moved. And in my memory this happened more than once (but could it have, really?)
