A quantum computer will likely one day be able to break the encryption protecting the world's secrets. See how much faster such a machine could decrypt a password compared to a present-day supercomputer. www.wired.com/story/youre-...

Reports claim the core processing error rate of Quantum vs Intel based cores has not been improved. If Quantum can't get to the same low error rate as the zero & one structure, it will never be able to do anything. It starting to seem like a mirage of new processing, not an break through.

It seems like the Quantum computing hype is losing steam. Error rates are still a major concern. But hey, Quantum resistant cryptography is making progress, right?

nope.. it is widely reported new encryption methods are constantly getting more "quantum-proof"...

I keep reading this but I don’t understand how it works. If I enter in too many bad passwords my account is locked and I have to call the bank.

Better get your confidential files offline before the quantum computers take effect.

As a grad student studying quantum computing, I love the faith Wired has in our ability to break everything before all the other threats break everything.
