Paper maps.
Paper maps.
Using "paper maps" doesn't mean they were not correctly using other navigation aids (VOR, DME, ILS) to guide them safely to an alternate airport.
I’m not arguing. The Russians jammed the GPS. That is very dangerous and put the head of the EU at unnecessary risk. As Russia continues to pull these stunts the likelihood of a serious escalation is likely.
GPS jamming is "very dangerous" in this specific case. What about all other cases in the world these last years ? Out of your radar ? www.timesaerospace.aero/features/air...
Every case of intentionally jamming the GPS of a non-combatant aircraft is dangerous and foolhardy. In this specific case however potentially killing the leader of the EU could not only escalate but possibly begin a 3rd World War.
No GPS jamming only would cause a critical safety event. It does not make an aircraft "fall". It does not make a crew being lost for a long time. There are other safety means. GPS jamming is annoying, disrupting, but it is not "potentially killing".
Ok.
