I think Nintendo execs are struggling to try to abide by the rest of the industry's "rules" for release dates and the like and it's caused major issues with MP4. I don't think it was meant to be a release game but I think every month since release was intended to have "1 Big Game" release

Could it have been delayed? Sure. I don't think there were ever plans to make it a launch window title, though. Mario Kart World was always going to be the key title to push the Switch 2, and Prime 4 might have suffered sales-wise being so close to it. This is probably the key holiday title.

No I meant as an a side launch title, not as the main one like MKW

I'm not sure there's such a thing as a "main" or "side" launch title in the sense that they will all be vying for attention at the same time. I suppose you could argue just how much overlap there is between MK and Metroid players, but MKW would have overshadowed Prime 4 if they launched together.

I doubt Nintendo wants to risk having Mario Kart cannibalize another one of its legacy series, especially given that Metroid can struggle having multi-million selling titles even under the best of circumstances. Still, this is just my two cents on the situation. I have no idea in actuality. 😛

other games on the tube had the same OUT NOW banner, it's 100% someone goofing in photoshop and it wasn't caught before print lol i have a feeling it'll release close to whenever they do the next general direct, similar to prime remastered's physical release

Considering what happened to the previous Metroid game (that wasn’t a remastered of an original), I’d say it had to be delayed for a good reason
