The birth rate is already below replacement rate. In a few years, western countries will be competing for immigrants, not trying to stop them.

Knowing this while at the same time watching a constant stream of nationalist propaganda on social media does my head in. Being a country that attracts immigration is a huge advantage and will only become more so over time, and here we are trying to throw it away (as with many other advantages).

Maybe we shouldn’t rely on economic models that depend on continual growth to generate wealth? Technology should be taking the place of humans doing menial jobs.
