GREEDFLATION IS REAL!!! It is particularly true in food, which people need so they don't die. This is what is happening before a true supply crisis has even manifested. #Capitalism is failing. The free market wants you to starve to death so that everyone else will pay more Grow your own food!!!

Please don't pretend we can all grow enough of our own food to survive. Urban subsistence farming is not a viable plan.

I did mean to say if US urban centers don't get more serious about growing more food locally, there will be even more suffering and death than I currently fear. Which is a lot.

I did not say that at all. Currently I can grow exactly ZERO food. If it weren't for the local food bank I don't know how I would have eaten for the last year and a half as the deep blue state of New York used bureaucratic bullshit to deny me SNAP I said is food is going to be a problem. Grow some

Fair. I just worry about the people who do expect individuals can counter this nightmare by living on what they can grow, because like yourself, many people can grow exactly zero food.

I definitely do not think that. We absolutely will NOT get through this period on rugged hyperindividualism. That's what got us into this mess to begin with. However, if we act collectively and emphasize food production in urban settings more of us will survive than otherwise would.

Subsistence farming sucks. That's not the solution to late stage capitalism.

That is not what I am saying and I am getting fatigued by pointing that out. Of course no one can individually survive societal collapse with a backyard garden. But enough people growing food becomes calories that will fill in gaps created by the collapse so that fewer people will die.
