I appreciate your focus on this vital issue as well as the work you've done to reach out to constituents effected by these illegal budget cuts. That said, I'm struck by the fact that the illegality of these cuts is noted in your press release without any accompanying call to action. 1/6
The president is violating the Constitutional order. Overriding the will of the people as expressed through Congress. (As you note in your release!) You cannot acknowledge that and then simply treat is as context or background. 2/6
This law should exist. It's good to propose it. But if you acknowledge that the President is willfully betraying his oath of office, you must call for his impeachment and removal. 3/6
You can and should fight for this law to be a guardrail in future administrations. But you MUST pursue impeachment as the legal remedy for this one. You swore an oath, too. 4/6
You swore to uphold and defend Constitution. You didn't swear to do it when it was popular. Or when your colleagues agreed. Or when you knew you'd be successful. There was no asterisk. No "some restrictions may apply." 5/6
These are dark days, but duty calls. And you must answer with a call of your own. Call for impeachment. 6/6
We are with you Emily!
