We can make well over $100 / hour, just by putting our names on university departmental tutoring lists. With some of the really advanced material, market prices rise even about $200 / hour. This is good money, and it's abundant money. There is no shortage of clients.
That's enough money that if one also has a background in Engineering, one can fund one's own tinkering, and develop technologies that can then be profitably marketed. What comes out of that isn't just good money. It's "go make love to yourself, Bif" money.
It's money that takes away some abusive male's ability to credibly threaten a woman into unquestioning obedience, by telling her that if she doesn't bow down to him, she'll end up hungry and freezing, out on the street. She doesn't have to take any grief from one of those "alpha males."
This is real freedom. It's real freedom that she finds in a world in which women really are viewed as equals, and sincerely respected, leaving her with no reason to want to put up with some gracelessly aging ex-frat boy who was hoping to prove his manhood, by bullying her into submission.
Insane? No, deeply insightful. Being male (and large), I have an advantage when I try to understand why these men act as they do. They are more willing to say the vile "quiet stuff" out loud, when women aren't around to hear it. They look at me, and think that I'm an "alpha," too.
Thinking that I'm on their side, they'll brag about their exploits, and each one will be worst than the last. Having gotten their ideas about the men in STEM from the Big Bang Theory, they'll just assume that I must be one of the frat boys, at first, and say the most horrible things.
No deep insights from me. I just had to sit around with a poker face and listen as these fools told me everything, without much prompting. You, on the other hand, saw past their deception, from a distance. Seriously, well done.
