China realised that they needed to change due to the smog that covered their major cities, burning coal and fossil fuelled transport was the problem. Hence the very rapid change. Major heatwaves a few years ago caused extensive blackouts as the grid couldn’t supply the electricity.

The US went through that same thing in the 70s, but only mandated emissions controls while still wholely supporting the oil industry and everything associated with it. We still have major blackouts during extreme weather and air quality days where people are told to stay inside and filter the air.

Yes I’m afraid the power of the FF companies is dragging us to the cliff of extinction and no matter what other countries do the USA will wake up far to late.
