Hard to understand for me as German, here you can even get a mandatory health insurance if you´re on #SocialSecurity like me (free #Medicare), or even homeless people can get one, those insurances pay for the necessary examinations and treatments.

The only things for that our mandatory health insurances do not pay are cold meds like nasal spray or drops against cough, expectorants, eye glasses (including the frames, I have a glasses insurance & get new ones every 2 years) and a few other medications that´re more "lifestyle products".

I'm quite jealous. I could work to finally own a home just to lose it eventually to healthcare costs. Bankruptcy has limits. The elderly are forced to spend down assets to qualify for care. I've had a friend do minor home surgery for an injury to avoid ER costs when I was young. We NEED much better.

I had an employee at a place I owned up in Flagstaff, He worked 3 jobs & sent almost every dime home. His family was starving. No work, rough area. He couldn't open a bank account & he lived w/ other guys. He was robbed several times. He was a kind, hardworking, honest young man, I so admired him.

And even if a migrant was paid cash under the table, we all pay many more taxes than fed/state income tax and so would they: sales tax, gasoline tax, utility taxes and special levies to pay for public projects. Even people who make too little to file fed tax contribute every day to public coffers.
