I have a beautiful Pit Bull/Chocolate lab mix....they told he came from a domestic violence situation at the shelter. He is gentle and well behaved....i often wonder if his previous owner's heart aches for him. I would.

It’s too bad you never tried to find them to see if they were in a better place and could be with their dog again or at least reassure them that he is happy and taken care of.

I don’t think that information is openly available. But the organization that facilitates the adoption could probably let the original owner know about the pet’s wellbeing if requested.
