Walmart strategy. Even if they don't get more buys than AEW, they can afford to absorb a loss if it means their competitor loses buys
Death by a thousand cuts. The idea is to hit the sales on that PPV by cutting out those who might hear about wrestling and think "yeah, let's see what's happening in that now". They'd look it up and end up with All Out, but WWE running a show means that they'll likely end up there instead.
The aim is to cut a significant enough amount away from the PPV buys so that it looks like they're falling. This will lead to stories about lowest PPV buys and affect fan confidence in the shows. Casuals will start to move away. Even hardcore fans will be more likely to see flaws in the...
...production (that were always there and in other places too) when focused on such negatives and some of those will move away. With falling viewership, the network will offer less money for a TV deal and the show will have to run on less, losing quality and top names, as it spirals to failure.
it's not even an apples to apples comparison, like congrats you got more eyes on a show that didn't cost most people more money to watch?
I can't see AEW losing too many buys as AEW fans left WWE because of how they are now. You may get some casuals, but is that truly making a dent?
