We used to do stuff like this years ago in a Buffalo suburb with cherry bombs (looked like a cherry and stem) and M-80s (silver tube with fuse on the side, more powerful). I have no idea how we got our hands on either, but we were only limited by lack of much money to buy more of them.
If your rice doesn't come from outer space, you should get a refund.

That was fucking awesome lmao
Didn't Kirk use this trick fighting an alien on Star Trek?
bro's playing bottle rockets with a pot.
Rice cooker? It withstood a monumental amount of abuse. That thing is a goddamned flak helmet. Who knew it was possible to stop tank rounds with cookery? 😂
Why did watching this bring me joy?
Same! Weeeeeee! Fly, little rice cooker!
Somehow, Jack Parsons returned
My guy running farther away with each test
I love that little detail. Each one he gets further back and looks higher so you know what's gonna happen.
The fuzes were way too short on most of those, I'd be running further away too!
You can buy half sticks in China?!
I always love this video
Pretty sure dudes rock
Honey, have you seen the liner pot to the electric cooker? I can't find it anywhere...
I've never been more pleased to realize I have another minute of video left
God i love these videos
How they learned the power of each smash move in Super Smash Brothers.
youtu.be/R4FfNYjw6qU?...
tell Elon to pack it up, we don't need his rockets any more
I fully expect these to be used in undergrad physics classes to deduce initial velocities
I measured 5.64 s two-way travel time for the final launch, so ignoring air resistance, a maximum height of about 39 m
yeah gotta assume no air resistance at first. although being a cylinder it could probably be reasonably approximated...
It never landed right to make a cool noise. :(
It's hard to make aluminium ring, it just makes a dull plonk.
We're all dull plonks here
The cute little plonks are the best part

My headcanon is that the these pots are delivered ballistically. The shipping fee is the cost in explosives to get it from there to you.

So Musk’s earlier work on rockets?
It’s fascinating to watch the various energies of each explosive but I’m even more intrigued and curious as to the manufacturer of that pot because holy crap is that thing *durable*
And not a single dent in that pot!
Say what you want about our gun problem, but I'm really glad Americans don't have access to this sort of small grade munitions because we'd do much different stuff with it.
My neighbors used to buy thermite online, legally, in addition to their usual $20k (or more) of July 4th commercial grade fireworks.
Not even in my 1980s Indian Reservation dreams would I believe this selection 🤩
I visited Texas near New year's and it was like this
Yep. I recall these from side-of-highway stands and big white buildings, often just across some state line all through the 80’s and 90’s.
In a lot of US states you can order an honest to god binary explosive (tannerite, ignited by shooting it with a rifle, intended use is shooting targets that explode to clearly mark a hit) through the mail
Every so often, some clever person will forget everything they've ever read about Tannerite and mix themselves up a hundred pounds or so, then put it inside something sturdy to make it "safer". Then the first rifle bullet hits and they're amazed when half their safety dumpster lands 400yds away.
The first one is adorable

Operation Plumbbob over here.
Man no wonder they used those to hold Piccolo.
Ooh, new physics problem.
TIL how much I miss #Mythbusters. Thanks.
I need to figure out what brand pot that is.
