This is all correct, and yet I would contend that there is a specific nature to digital technology that pertains to the opacity and fluidity with which its operator can shape it.

is digital technology the only/most metatechnology, the one in which you can use the technology to create a whole new technology? like I could adapt a jaquard loom into a pianola, but I couldn't use one to make something totally different like a balloon...

if anyone ever made a jaquard-driven balloon that pulled out the right punchcard to respond as it went up and down through the 50 differerent layers of wind speed, direction and humidity a pilot deals with, I want to see a picture!
