Thanks for being kind! I’ve noticed it more often, I’ve been told it’s due to Trump following thru on tariffs. And I get that. But we are *really* suffering here. We’re trying to fix everything for ourselves and for the world. Bluesky is one of the safe spaces right now... so it’s frustrating.
I wish-I’m not sure-if people in the EU and Canada have seen any Murdoch media. I hope they realize what 30 years of right wing propaganda at (mostly) has done to 25-30% of the population.
I try to remain as positive as I can and remember that the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. I hope.

Canada is deluged with American media - ours is mostly owned by Americans. We just don't eat it up en masse. We are heavily tainted by American Christianity/capitalist greed too. But we are also more educated. And being multicultural, we have other news sources and hear other sides.
We (speaking on behalf of the normal, freedom/democracy loving Americans here) have a lot of work to do once (if) we get through this. I hope we’ll be able to repair our relationships w the the world - I assure you they matter to the average American. We’re not sitting here ignorant of our impact.
When/if California splits off we can make new relationships without all that baggage hopefully. #calexit
First, maybe consider what you mean by "freedom". Maybe "freedom" is not a particularly good goal. It is vague and means very different things to different people. Trump has had a great deal of freedom. Others, not so much.
It has been crushing, and nothing will be the same. Our light of hope for ongoing progress has been nearly snuffed out. I will never have the life I strove for, nor my kid. No way out of this but through, now. It will take decades upon decades to rebuild what has been destroyed.
Canada is on the same trajectory as us, and so is the UK. I fervently pray they will take a warning from our downfall and do everything in their power to turn aside. More broadly there has been a decades-long, worldwide, right-wing power grab, and it's coming to fruition everywhere. 😓

What I’ve noticed is we’ve lost all our dear kind Canadian friends. The first time around if I went on Twitter any time of day or night, they were there. Always so kind and encouraging. It makes me so sad to lose our best friends because of that asshole.

I understand what you are saying. We feel very threatened and our economy is being affected by these tariffs. It seems as though people have forgotten what Canada and Canadians have done for the US.
I know. I hate this. It’s bad enough that we’re dealing with this terrible situation but it’s causing the rest of the world to suffer in too many ways. I am so so sorry.
