In Arms & Influence Schelling argues favorably for the strategy of bombing North Vietnam, so at least that one example was empirically a massive failure. I'm not saying he's wrong writ large, but certainty that he had a lot of blind spots.

A. "Weak sides who have no real initiative capability wine." is is a very differnent arg from your initial tweet, which read in highlighted part, said. B. Your initial tweet, with an incredulous “what history & theory FFS” was a clear implication that I was not actually familiar with the topic.

also the "I probably am better placed to know this than you." is credentialism - you do have a PhD in this, but being well educated absolutely does not give you the right to *attack* anyone else, particularly amateurs (like me!), from engaging with the concepts in good faith (as in my initial post).

No, actually, I’m not going to do that. If you are going to make the claim that I have made an error in my understanding of Thomas Schilling’s concept of initiative, or that my argument that Dems should be more active not reactive in politics, then you need provide evidence for that claim.
