Also how often do you need to check out the same time you came in? Most people are arriving sometime in the afternoon and leaving sometime in the morning on the last day. Why would I be hanging out there until 6pm the next day?

- extra sleep - rest after a long travel - possibly resort facilities - no need for luggage storage - hot shower before you leave for airport I could go on for literally ever, do people just not travel??? Hotels as a business model are inconvenient for travellers!

So by nature a hotel pretty much needs to have a gap between check out and check in. Where are you going to set it? The most common situation is that people are traveling on the same day they check in/out so it makes sense to calibrate accordingly. So most people are arriving later than they leave.

Earlier checkin seems like the most useful thing, since it can be really annoying if you are in a situation with luggage and aren't somewhere that has storage lockers. But hard to change that without cutting into check out and it would also really suck to be trying to get out the door at 8am.

Based on need. Remember, in a flexible hotel you're going to have some people checking in late, too, won't you? If you have a LOT of early check-ins and late check-outs that can be a problem, sure, but how I see it done is basically slots so that doesn't happen.

Then if your slot isn't available, like my last trip, you leave your luggage with the hotel and you can go off and do other stuff, or go lounge in their lounge.

I'd pay extra to be able to be sleeping in a room between 11am and 3pm. I won't pay for two days though for a stay of 5am to 5pm. I may be rare but I find it annoying to plan around the 11am to 3pm unavailability of most hotels / motels.

There's probably merits for trucker/ factory traveler friendly hotels to work "shifts." Either 12 hour or 8 hour offsets. But it'd be a marginal service.

I think that adding a standalone capsule motel to your truck stop chain would be a money maker. Have you seen how many people sleep overnight uncomfortably in their cars and small trucks at America's truck stops and rest stops? I think it would be worth some money to these people to be able ...

to get comfortable in a safe environment and get some solid sleep for 10 to 12 hours. Certainly would be to me. Maintenance would be minimal. I wish this existed.

Have you ever been to a hotel lmao (I know you have but I'm laughing extra) the check times are the worst part. Just because you don't have trouble with them doesn't mean others don't. There ARE hotels where 24+ hour blocks, 11AM to 1PM, are available for a fee, and they make money!

Pure BS. How do you staff such a hotel? It’s impossible to get hotel staff now. Needing to clean rooms vacated after odd hours in time for the next check-in would bust budgets.

Idk how to tell you this but the literal cheapest shlock hotels in like, Dublin, London, Paris, etc. offer stays that completely overlap with cleaning time with no turnaround because they keep a lean on-site cleaning staff that prepares it for an expected late check-in This is normal in civilisation
