When Trump dies in office, and I am very convinced at this point that is a “when” question, not an “if” question, there is gonna be a ton of bullshit that the scheming viziers will put out claiming he signed - which, like, lool good luck Vance

They are going to regret all this bullshit about autopens
Going to be fun when none of them can agree on the things he secretly signed
Codicils for dayz
Probably doing that right now before announcing he died in his sleep tonight (after totally 100% posting "good night" for the first time ever so you know he was alive at that time)
So which is a better outcome? Trump dying in office, or Trump surviving until the end of his term? There's a persuasive argument for either one of those.
Trump dying in office after we take back the House🤞🏼
Mostly pardons? It’d have to be things a) that can be done with the stroke of a pen and b) Vance can’t summarily revoke with the stroke of a pen So, pardons
The fake pardons will unimaginable. Vance will probably be forced to save all of them or none of them. It will be all of them of course, because law is dead and he’s a coward.
Im fully convinced he thinks they will follow him like they did trump.
Before Xmas this year
Hell, looks like before Tuesday
The most vindicating part of him dying will be that libel/slander laws no longer protect him. Suddenly, everyone will be able to speak the truth about all the evil things he did without threat of litigation. There will be a lot of dirty laundry aired.
My buddy and I were talking about this while fishing today. Are we seeing the billionaires behind the scenes consolidating support for Vance from the get-go? Are outsiders looking to take the MAGA crown? s there anybody currently writing (credibly) about the factions in this Trump White House?
Gonna be a whole lot of “it was his last wish that _____” preceding the most dogshit attempt at palace intrigue imaginable
youtu.be/K517YIJKcfw?...
Non zero chance if his health is currently failing that they are running the auto pen like an American factory during WWII just to have anything they want to push with a Trump signature on it
“To not set fire to all of the Californian forests with gasoline excepting the area around Claremont McKenna would disrespect the dying wishes of Donald Trump, the greatest president” “the democrats want to tear up our President’s last will and testament”
I am still of the opinion that factions in the White House spread the death rumours themselves, to see who would start scurrying around, popping champagne, making phone calls, shredding files, etc
the republican coalition and the scheme advisors are going to tear vance apart, and I *cannot* wait
Finally somebody thinking about succession and the Miller-Vance throw-down.
....are they?
vance will be in the hot seat and the only one with actual power besides mike johnson, everyone else will be infighting but vance will have the biggest gun
I don’t disagree, but I think he’s going to have a hell of time getting anyone to listen to him. Yeah he’ll have appointment powers and powers of office (both formidable) but will he be able to use them to ends that effectuate his authority? I doubt it.
Meanwhile, everyone and their mother will be fighting to take over the maga base and/or position themselves for 2028, which incentivizes every ambitious ghoul to come at vance with a political meat cleaver
this was more or less my thinking for a long time, but recently i'm trying to question my priors as much as possible, because i definitely didn't do that enough last year (I never thought Harris would lose, never occurred to me so much as once)
Which is totally fair, and a good practice in general re: politics. I just can’t see how it plays out any other way. I don’t imagine a collapse of the Republican coalition they way others on here do, but there is a lot of pent-up, ambitious sociopaths waiting for their turn and they’re not
i can't really see how any of this plays out at all lol. there's so much uncertainty, and that's a huge cause for concern IMO i'm reasonably confident about this and next year's elections going our way but beyond that i genuinely have no clue (and am generally quite worried for various reasons)
going to let couch boy, polling at 40 percent, get in the way. Vance will most likely double down on the most racist and authoritarian actions, both out of conviction and to shore up the coalition. He’ll need to do so to distract from the inherent contradictions within it that trump papers over
and he’s an unknown nobody to the nation at large, which means Johnson and Thune won’t care what he has to say about anything, all the while their caucus members start panicking as we get closer to 26
the office of president confers a lot of legitimacy itself, i see no real reason to believe that since Trump *chose* Vance that Thune and Johnson just completely balk at him. i'm sorry, but that sounds like wishful thinking.
I’m not saying that, I’m saying they don’t respect him because he’s viewed as weak and lacking a constituency. Which has happened to many replacement presidents in American history.
i'm not really sure that matters
how so?
Vance doesn’t inspire fear in anyone, nor does he have car salesman charisma. He’ll have the formal powers of his office, which again are formidable, but that doesn’t mean he’ll have Congress and the courts under his thumb the way trump does
maybe, but i'm still team-"i'd rather not find out what happens if he dies"
I have to believe this is already happening, at least to some degree. Everyone in that White House is actively preparing for what comes after. Who those factions are, and what money is on their side, is going to be critical. And the Epstein files could be a dangerous weapon.
Hope sooner than later
Half a dozen guys trying to be Mark Anthony after Caesar got ganked. Except none of them have the juice to make it work.
Just as long as no one gets in Hegseth’s ear and tells him “hey, you’ve already got armed soldiers in DC, person xyz should really be president.”
Off the top of my head I can think of at least three competing groups who are currently united* behind Trump, and I don't see how they don't explode into something that makes Succession look like a Disney Kids show in comparison.
Who is vances vp? Genuine question
Inverse of Biden ratifying the ERA and freeing Leonard peltier on his last day
I’ll eagerly await the @aiannucci.bsky.social movie about the power struggle that will inevitably follow.
