It costs the other countries nothing the bill is paid by US citizens. If the US citizens still buy the products at the higher price the other countries lose nothing.

That is what I am saying: Why not let him do all the tariffs he wants until the US citizens start rebelling? Why are many countries letting themselves being blackmailed by this shite?

The likes of BMW, Mercedes,Jaguar Land Rover or any big business need the US market, it's the biggest economy in the world (until China takes over because of Trump). The profit from these sales gets filtered back into the EU and UK contributing to the countries GDP. Trump has disrupted this balance.

The ONLY thing tariffs do is making everything more expensive in the US. The earnings for companies abroad are unchanged. The danger is that Americans stop buying the cars you mention because they are getting to expensive. A tariff is money going directly from the end consumer to US government.
