Whenever I see therapists complaining about the ubiquity of AI, I remember in 1996 when therapists started seeing people online-only. Most therapists were aghast at the idea, and said it could never work. "You can't recreate the therapeutic alliance online!" It took more than 15 or so years...

... but of course we see now that you can indeed do therapy exclusively online without an issue. It'll probably take a lot less time this go around before therapists accept AI is going to do -- and is actively now doing -- psychotherapy-like interventions.
