they also need to figure out how they are going to convince people in rural districts that this isn't a big fuck you to them and then prepare for a June primary where win or lose, they will have a very animated and pissed off conservative block of voters to handle

Meh. I think "Texas is gerrymandering so fuck Texas, we're doing it, too" is not that hard a case to make. And conservative voters are always pissed off, and there's never enough of them to matter. No guarantees, but plenty doable.

sure, i guess i'm not completely sold on the idea that the long term implications of these tit-for-tat politics is really a great thing for us to be doing or that Newsom is actually all the interested in the mess he might leave behind because he's trying to build a candidate image

after the Dems pretty lackluster national performance in 2024 where lots of people just stayed home when they campaigned on the same message i'm just not fully convinced they can pull it off, even if it looks like a lay up
