Still 13 years to go. If Maine voters have found reasons to stick with Collins all this time, are they really going to jump ship for this candidate because of a rally? 🤔

The rally by itself isn't likely to make anyone "jump ship" who wasn't already eager to do so. And that's a lot of us.

2/ Platner's advantage is that he's authentic, speaks directly to the core issues of independent, "blue-collar" Mainers, and is NOT a DNC product.

1/ Collins was re-elected in 2014 over (then) newcomer Shenna Bellows when she was still riding her reputation for pragmatism and moderation, plus her seniority status. She began caving after Trump won in 2016. By 2020, she'd lost popularity, but Maine independents didn't trust her DNC opponent.
