Journalism has transformed from “find the truth based on evidence with biases removed as much as possible” to “just unquestioningly recite whatever anyone tells you as if it could possibly be the truth because ‘the truth is somewhere in the middle’ and who could say for sure?” over the last 20 years
Every aspect of critical thought has been removed from it because it turns out that challenging assertions makes people uncomfortable and could alienate some readers, and just shutting and going “who can say???” like a credulous dipshit was actually more profitable.
