Why are we subsidizing the affluent? The $7500 credits should have been income capped for purchasing *more* efficient vehicles.

Agreed. Electric cars are exponentially more efficient. And the affluent generally understand it’s good to spend less money.

The affluent actually have a garage or at minimum a driveway to plug in their cars. A poor person can’t run a plug a block away to the on street parking they found or a poor rural person has 60 amp panel on their small house or trailer that has no room for another 30 amp breaker.

There a host of reasons why electric cars work better for the affluent (I bet many also own a secondary gas vehicle) which begs the question: why did Democrats think this was good policy?

To get early adopters to purchase these vehicles by incentivizing it. It’s statist style policy position to change behavior

Yes, but wouldn't they have bought their luxury status symbol cars anyway? Its been worked out by economista that this is largely the case.
