A reminder that treating Russian territorial gains as an inevitable outcome is a Kremlin talking point. Since 2014, the Kremlin has pushed this idea that Russia is so powerful and giving up some land is better than giving it all up. It doesn't lead to peace, it leads to pause-and-push land grabs.

If Putin just wanted to secure the Krim peninsula, they would not have to start the large scale invasion in 2022. At that point Ukraine was mit able to regain controll of the occupied territory.

The idea that Ukraine would cede territory is for the birds. The impact on morale & having to establish new defensive positions might well mean the end of resistance anyway. That the US would facilitate this is basically an attack, not only on Ukraine but on Europe as a whole.
Exactly. After Ukraine, Putin will claim Transnistria in Moldova and South-Ossetia and Abchazia in Georgia too. Annexation of Belarus will be an Anschluss-like formality. Next up: 'protection' of the Russian minorities in the Baltic states.
