The ban hasn't stopped them. My bet is that the more churches get involved in electoral politics, the more they'll lose congregants & the less influence they'll have.

That's what they say. I imagine a lot of them are scared of Democrats being endorsed from the pulpit, but will cheer when their pastor falls to his knees to pray to Donald Trump.
What restraints? They are already tax exempt
Tax exempt used to mean no political activity allowed. Trump is making an exception of political activity for churches only -- no other tax-exempt organizations or charities will get that exception. To me, the political restriction was the only thing that justified churches being tax exempt.
Churches are given special treatment because they support God. When they start to support politicians they replicate a PAC and should report and be regulated like PACs. Tax them.

The eagerness of churches to break the law is an interesting development, and another reason to abolish religion. Political propaganda is pernicious enough without letting anyone hammer it home with threats of eternal damnation.
In the Bible Belt, the preachers have always told parishioners who to vote for. They even create a web site and put signs up everywhere! It’s horrid.

Separation of state and religion is a cornerstone of the Enlightenment, and of the USA. Look up: The Inquisition. Nazi Germany. Etc.

I would like to get the money those assholes get for posing with Trump. This exercise isn't needed. MAGAts already were convinced Trump was a Christian when he held up a bible for his photo op in front of a church.

I also add that anyone who is a pastor, priest, rabbi etc should be banned from holding political office. You can not represent all your constituents without having bias to your own congregation.
Not only should they not be able to endorse any political agenda or party, but they need to be paying taxes.
