I know posting excerpts from 1984 is passé but this is literally the fifth page of 1984

Ouch
I am frequently annoyed that describing things as "Orwellian" became misused and cliche, because what we're seeing is hella Orwellian.
great country things are going great weird no one wants to have kids
I read 1984 but boy I did not remember how hard it went.
I'm tired of feeling sick to my stomach every day. I don't see any hope of getting out of this either 😭
Oof. Borrowing that.

My friends are visiting the US soon, sure do hope the TSA don't kill them because they look like they might be carrying drugs but you can't know for sure anymore after this, it seems Trump really did want to commit murder when he said "I could shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters".
Shit this is dark as fuck and not in a bad way, more like worrying about our society kind of way
Hitting the little heart icon doesn't feel right some times, does it?
I feel ill.
Also reminds me of the drone videos coming out of Ukraine. It’s all an ugly spectacle for those willing to watch and enjoy it. I hate it
Forget it, Jake. It’s maritime law.
Jacob, let me tell you, reading 1984 for the first time in the year 2025 makes me feel like I'm going insane and that Orwell was a prophet. Obviously I know that the book is over 75 years old and it's only my choice to read it now that makes it seem prescient, but GODDAMN
Orwell has a non-fiction essay about going out to a rural mining town and documenting how they were vehemently anti-socialism, even though they’d uniquely benefit from it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Roa...
Please read Farenheit 451, it's so, so fitting to exactly what Americans are going through. The whole point of the book is that distraction with media and not allowing time to think keeps the populace placid
Just a shame that book has such a problem with women! Still, worth reading these days for sure.
